PUBLISH Inc., a blockchain-based media solutions company, has announced that its native token ‘NEWS’ is now listed on CoinMarketCap, a provider of price and market cap data for cryptocurrencies.

In addition to the price data, the listing includes data about NEWS token’s market capitalization, circulating supply, and total supply. Historic price data and charts showing the price movement of NEWS token over time are also available.

“This is a major milestone for the PUBLISH ecosystem,” Sonny Kwon, CEO of PUBLISH Inc., said. “We will continue our efforts to bring the benefits of blockchain technology to the news industry and pave the way for a tokenized and self-sustaining future.”

Founded in 2018, PUBLISH aims to leverage blockchain technology to address various challenges faced by the news industry including fake news, fragmented readership, and falling revenues. It is creating a blockchain-based media platform that fairly rewards all of its participants and serves as a realistic and economically viable model for publishers to adopt and build on.

The company has launched PUBLISHprotocol, a blockchain-powered open-source protocol that aims to facilitate a participatory mode of news production and consumption, and PUBLISHsoft, a blockchain-based content management system and end-to-end publishing system enabling publishers to issue their own PUBLISHprotocol-based cryptographic token.

NEWS is PUBLISH’s proprietary token that will be used for every transaction within its news ecosystem. The token is listed on a number of exchanges including Hoo, Hanbitco, EOSDAQ, and Dragon EX. It can also be purchased from TokenPost Korea, a digital-native news outlet and sister company of PUBLISH.

Meanwhile, PUBLISHalliance, a media blockchain consortium initiated by PUBLISH, has grown to nearly 60 members which includes various media, business and academic entities. Just recently, the largest independent Middle East news site Al Bawaba joined the consortium.
